Waterfall Dragon

This is the first Qi Gong exercise created and named by Lady Allium. Watch the video and follow along:

  • Send your right foot back and come on to the toes. Left leg lunges forward. Rest both hands on left thigh. Find the stance that works for you.

  • Send the right hand forward, flexed at the wrist with fingers spread. Left hand back by the ribs, palm up. Breathe normally.

  • Turn the right palm toward the earth with fingers spread, then raise it like bouncing off a trampoline and come down as ups turn palm up, fingers together.

  • Draw palm back by the Qi belt (waistline.) Turn palm to the back, out to the side, over the crown of the head, out to the side again. Spiral around to the front with palm up. Pull back to “The Great Connector” by the ribs. Arm pushes ahead with hand flexed at the wrist.

  • Step forward with the right leg, get repositioned and repeat the exercise on the other side. Afterward, place both hands on front thigh. Spring-load both legs and bring the left foot up to the right.

There are other dragon practices you can do to complement the wood element for resiliency like “Swimming Dragon” and “Powerful Dragon.” To get tension and tightness out of the upper back, neck and shoulders you can do “Dragon Stretches Its Tail.”

This new Qi Gong exercise “Waterfall Dragon” was influenced by teachings from two of my master teachers and an insightful comment from one of my students on the trail next to a waterfall. The following day I created Waterfall Dragon. I’ve taught it to my Zoom Qi-Gongers and my hiking Qi-Gongers and they all liked it!

This is another powerful Qi Gong dragon exercise to add to your toolbox.
