Qi Fun in the New Year
Let’s bring in the new year with some Qi fun!
Vibrating Horse:
Let go of energy no longer serving you by shivering up your spine.
Shake it out through your fingertips (At times, it’s OK to horse around).
Snake Sheds Its Skin:
This is a great release and a wonderful, mindful movement.
Hands start at the Heart Center. Knuckles of the thumb can massage into the sternum where we can hold tension and tightness. Check for tender spots.
Fingers drop down and circle around. Open the hands and squeeze the glutes.
Gather the energy and bring it toward you. Press palms to the belly.
Inhale - back of the hands rise to the Heart Center.
Exhale - open hands down to the Earth while making the heart sound “haaaa”.
Back of the hands toward each other as you roll up.
Circle arms around to the Heart Center, and you’re back where you started, with a grateful heart.
2026 is the Year of the Horse, a symbol of strength, enthusiasm, and vitality. Here is a flow to cultivate that personal horsepower.
Parting the Horse’s Mane:
Right hand comes across to the left hip, and the left hand is on top.
Right hand rises out front from the shoulder; left palm faces down in front of the left hip.
Turn from your center while your left hand circles across the face and finishes by the right hip as the right hand circles around and finishes on top.
Open from the center and part the horse’s mane.
Inhale - both arms circle at the same time.
Exhale - diagonal line, one arm finishing to the sky while the other faces the Earth.
Feel plugged in to the heavens above and the Earth below. This is a great body-mind connection, and a fantastic exercise for working the left and right brain.
These exercises are very timely now, but also good throughout the year. You decide the number of repetitions for each exercise that fits for you.
